  The men looked close to tears and she hoped they didn’t start crying, because if they did, she’d cry, too.

  “You do it,” Jarred told Garrison. “I want you to do it.”

  “Are you sure?”

  “Yeah. I am.”

  “Do what?” she asked.

  Garrison got out of bed and went to retrieve something from another room. He returned, but instead of kneeling on the bed, he knelt next to her, on the floor.

  That’s when she realized what he had in his hand. “Em, we’d planned to do this last weekend, but shit happened. We were going to take you out to a nice restaurant on Sunday night and then go walk on the beach and tell you what we felt for you.”

  He reached up and took her left hand, sliding the engagement ring onto her finger. “Will you marry me?”

  It took her a moment to realize she wasn’t nodding. She’d been too busy staring at the ring. Finally, she got the word out. “Yes!”

  He smiled as he stood and kissed her. “We know one reason you said he was your fiancé because of what happened, but it was just more proof to us that you felt about us how we feel about you. That night with the gunfire scared the shit out of us. About how close a call it was. Then the fall. And the other fall. We’re not about to wait any longer.”

  Jarred kissed her next. “We’ll get matching wedding bands to wear.”

  That’s when she realized something.

  Jarred wasn’t wearing his wedding band, and Garrison hadn’t been wearing his necklace, either.

  She looked at Jarred’s hand, where the white mark was still clearly visible. “Where’s your ring?”

  He laced fingers with her as Garrison returned to the bed. “We took them off yesterday,” he said. “We put his wedding band on the chain with the other two rings, and they’re out in the living room on the shelf with her urn.”

  “I’d never make you take them off,” she said.

  “It was our choice,” Garrison said. “We decided that if we’re willing to make this lifelong commitment to you, we want to be yours completely. We had no idea you were going to collar us tonight. That was just a happy coincidence.”

  “Eventually,” Jarred said, “we’re going to get some sort of a little glass box to put the rings and the necklace in to sit on the shelf. And a couple of other little things of hers. But we both realized that she would probably be yelling at us for not moving on now that we have you in our lives.”

  “Loudly.” Garrison smirked. “She’d probably say, ‘Doofuses, quit moping and enjoy life’.”

  Jarred chuckled. “She would have.”

  “She called you that?”

  “Not all the time,” Garrison said. “Just occasionally. When one of us was epically dumb about something. Playfully. Not mean.”

  She stared at the ring. “I was not expecting this.”

  “Noooobody expects the surprise proposal,” the men said, making her laugh.

  “Love you guys,” she said.

  “Love you, too,” they parroted, making her chuckle. Which made her wince, which then put both men on high alert. “I’m okay,” she assured them. “The doctor said barring lifting anything, if I took it easy I could…you know…do stuff.”

  “Well, until he clears you, we’re going easy,” Jarred said.

  She caught their hands and pulled them to her lips, kissing them, tucking them against her chest. “Sometimes, I’m going to want you guys to just take over in bed, you know. This, however, is not one of those times. You did what I asked you to do, and you took care of me in the hospital. Now I’m home, and I need to get back to what we usually do.”

  “Ma’am gets what Ma’am wants,” Jarred teased.

  “I know I was scared shitless that night,” she said, knowing they would follow her train of thought, “but I have to say the sex we had once we were at my place? That was…that was really fucking hot. I can still be Ma’am with you guys getting all Alpha on my ass in bed occasionally when the mood strikes you. Otherwise, I’m happy with our knight and Lady dynamic.”

  “So are we, baby,” Garrison said.

  “Okay, so get naked, and one of you get the Hitachi.” The back brace would be a little uncomfortable, but she wouldn’t have to move any.

  Once they were naked and had fetched the vibrator, Garrison carefully stretched out next to her and kissed her while Jarred flipped the switch to high and pressed the Hitachi against her clit.

  Oh, it didn’t take long. Once he got her over and she held up her hand he immediately pulled the vibrator away and switched it off. “Better, Ma’am?”

  She sighed. “Very much better. Now you two. Your choice, as long as it’s right here where I can watch.”

  Not wanting to jostle her by shaking the bed, they opted to take turns, first Garrison lying next to her. She kissed him while Jarred gave him a blow job. Then they switched places, Jarred kissing her while Garrison went down on Jarred.

  With everyone satisfied, Em felt like a nap. “Wake me when it’s dinner time, boys,” she said. “Love you.”

  “Love you, Ma’am,” they echoed.

  Yeah, this. While she’d started to chafe under their Alpha personas in the hospital, this was what she wanted.

  Her men could easily take care of business, take care of her, and be strong dudes ready to take on the world to protect her.

  But what turned her on was that they chose to take care of her and submit to her. Like having her own personal bodyguards.

  Didn’t every lady want a knight to take care of her?

  She sure as hell did.

  No way in hell she’d ever give them up, either.

  Chapter Thirty-One

  Em lounged in the chaise on the back lanai. Mid-December in Florida, and it was a pleasantly cool Sunday, but warm enough in the sunny patches, which was where her chaise was located. Her two nearly naked personal cabana boys weeding the flowerbeds in the backyard was a fun sight to keep her occupied. With the eight-foot fence surrounding the backyard, no one could see in or intrude upon their privacy.

  She wouldn’t trade it—or them—for anything.

  She still had to fight the urge to get up and do too much. Overdo things. She was so used to being independent and not needing help, that allowing the men to help her still felt kind of alien in many ways.

  They enjoyed it, though, and it achieved the desired results, so she wouldn’t complain. Eventually, she’d transition into being able to get back to her normal routine and activities. The men assured her when that time came they could figure out new ways to fulfill their need for service to balance it all out without driving any of them crazy.

  The best thing of all? She trusted them more than enough to know that’s exactly what would happen.

  They’d figure it out.

  Together.

  At least with her job she could work from home almost all of the time. The few times she needed to actually go into the office, either Brent or Mitchell came to pick her up and then brought her home, whether she was ready to come home or not. Many times she wanted to stay and work longer, and the men ordered her home to take it easy.

  Another couple of weeks, and she’d be cleared to get back to her usual full-time duties. The doctor had actually said she could drive now, if she felt up to it. Unfortunately, Mitchell, Brent, Garrison, and Jarred had all nixed that idea, refusing to let her. She still wasn’t supposed to lift anything over ten pounds, and when her laptop and case and purse all weighed in at nine, the men refused to let her drive herself for fear of her lifting too much.

  She wouldn’t overrule them on this point. They cared about her, were worried about her. In Garrison and Jarred she could see the fear haunting them, the near miss, the old grief.

  If it made her two guys happy to drive her around for now, she’d let them. Once New Year’s passed, they would ease up and let her resume her usual routine.

  They already had their Christmas tree up. The men had put it up, mixing her ornaments and theirs and looki
ng to her for direction on where to hang things while not letting her so much as lift a finger to help. They would be having family come there for Christmas Day dinner.

  Not just Jarred and Garrison’s families, but hers as well. She’d already met and been welcomed by both men’s families. Her mom had been invited, but had not yet said if she’d come. Her dad had assured them he would be there. If her mom wanted to spend the day alone, that would be her choice. Don and his wife and son, and Amy and her two kids, would also be there.

  Em had a private meeting with her mom and her mom’s doctor to go over the events of that day. To her mom’s credit, she’d apologized for her part in it. Em knew there hadn’t been any malice in her actions, but the lack of judgment by not taking her meds, compounded by showing up at the hospital without telling her father about it, had only made the situation infinitely worse.

  Em had forgiven her for it though. But she wasn’t stupid. She’d given her mom an ultimatum that if she wanted to continue having a relationship with Em, she couldn’t not take her meds again, and she had to stay dedicated to following the treatment regime the doctor had set for her.

  Thanksgiving had been a very tense affair that Em wouldn’t repeat. At least her mom had been civil to Jarred and Garrison, but barely.

  If her mom wanted to be a part of the family, she’d need to act like an adult.

  When the men finished that patch of flowerbed, they hosed the dirt off of their bodies and returned to her. There, they knelt on either side of the lounger so she could stroke their heads. “Such good boys.”

  Tony had told her about puppy and pony play. After looking at a few things online, Em knew that was something she’d like to explore. A role-play aspect to it, the gear, and a chance for the men to really zone out and hand over control.

  It wasn’t much of a stretch for the men. Some nights, they enjoyed kneeling on the floor next to her while she sat on the couch and watched TV or read.

  “Anything we can do for you, Ma’am?” Jarred asked.

  “Why yes, there is, actually.” She pulled up the hem of her strapless sundress to show she wasn’t wearing any panties. She was enjoying not having to wear the back brace all the time now. She still wore it if she was going to be on her feet for a while, or sitting up at the computer, but she was allowed to take frequent breaks from it.

  She pulled Jarred’s head closer. “You can take care of that.” She reached over and pulled Garrison in close. “And you can take care of these.” She tugged the top of her sundress down.

  “Yes, Ma’am,” they parroted before diving into their work. Jarred’s talented mouth closed around her clit, his tongue stroking and flicking it as he lightly sucked the way he knew she loved.

  Garrison worked back and forth from one nipple to the other, with mouth and hands. As she buried her hands in their hair and held on tight, she felt a rapid spin toward an orgasm. This, however, they’d happily take care of for her, doing all the work so all she had to do was lie back and enjoy it.

  What they didn’t know about was the little surprise she had in store for them inside.

  She grinned. “I have a surprise for you. After we all grab a shower.” With her sundress now bunched up around her waist, she led them into the bedroom and opened the dresser drawer where she’d stashed it, holding it up.

  The men’s eyes widened.

  “Um, Em?” Jarred asked. “Not that I’m complaining, but—”

  “No lifting on my part will be involved,” she said as she walked over, holding up the strap-on dildo and new harness. “Just two gorgeous asses finally getting fucked by me, the way I’ve been wanting to try.”

  Grins filled the men’s faces, lighting up their eyes in a way she hadn’t seen since they’d first gotten together.

  Normalcy—achieved.

  Finally.

  She’d already test-fitted the waterproof harness, too, adjusting it so she knew how to put it on.

  “Now, I know two guys who better get those same asses in the shower and wash the sweat and dirt off if they want a good fucking from their Ma’am so they can bust a nut.”

  They both bolted for the bathroom.

  She laid the strap-on on the bed, finished shedding her sundress, and followed them to the bathroom.

  Yeah. This was the way life should be led. With two guys she was crazy in love with, two guys she knew would turn themselves inside out to make her happy.

  Two guys she loved knowing were all hers.
